Respite refers to a short time of rest or relief. It provides a break from the typical care routine allowing the caregiver some down time while the person with Alzheimer's or dementia-related disorders continues to receive care from qualified individuals and has the opportunity for different experiences and social interaction.
We offer respite care at Our Place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
We have a light breakfast, a full lunch, and an afternoon snack. We also have activities that engage our entire group of Friends as well as daily entertainment.
Benefits for our Friends
Our Friends will benefit from the socialization and cognitive stimulation of being in a safe, supportive, engaging environment in which they can interact with others having similar experiences while participating in enjoyable activities designed to match personal abilities and needs. Activities will brighten our Friends day by revitalizing the joys, accomplishments, strengths and comfortable habits of the past and present. It is our intent to provide mentally stimulating activities and nutritious hot lunches in a homelike environment.
Benefits for Family Caregivers
It is our mission to provide family caregivers peace of mind knowing your loved one is spending the day in a safe, secure environment engaged in worthwhile activities.
By offering this service it affords you the freedom to focus on stress relief through rest and relaxation and the time for important personal endeavors that are often neglected.
To meet the admission criteria and to ensure he/she will benefit from the program, each potential friend will be asked to complete a brief assessment that is administered at Alzheimer's Alliance Tri-State.
Cost for the program is nominal and includes all programming, meals, interaction, and activities.
